San Antonio Independent School District Board of Education Opposes Landfill Expansion!

Monday, August 14, the San Antonio Independent School District Board of Education took a bold step for their community and economic development.  The board passed a resolution opposing the Tessman Road landfill with a firm message to the TNRCC and BFI.

The SAISD has an interest in protecting the eastern district for family and community growth, not as a place to bury trash.

As stated in the resolution, "The San Antonio Independent School District has an interest in the planned development of the over 600 acre LA PAZ community of homes and businesses, (immediately to the west of the proposed landfill expansion), in which SAISD schools will serve the citizens, and the community will represent a new and important part of the economic base of the school district."
