China Grove was treated to a "COME WITH ME TO AUSTIN" parade and rally today, Sunday, August 13 at 6:00pm.  There were numerous cars, trucks, flatbeds, and even a motorcycle all decorated with different themes but all focusing on one mission--to get the word out about the final hearing to be held in Austin on August 23.

The parade participants began arriving and lining up just before 6:00pm.

Everyone was excited to see the different themes chosen...

A few notable participants were:

• Bob who drove his awesome bike!
• TC Calvert who has always come through and participated!
• Jay who was the lead car and "voice" for the parade!

Once all the vehicles were lined-up and ready to roll we hit the streets!

After the parade a short rally was held at St. Jerome's Church.

As always there was a good turn-out but only channel 41 and channel 5 provided media coverage.  As the days count down to August 23 there is a sense of excitement in the air.  None of our supporters in government, whether state, county, or local has changed their position.  MEG has gained new supporters who also oppose the expansion.  Several northside neighborhoods have joined with eastside neighborhoods in opposing the expansion.  Plus there are still other organization who are being contacted for support.  We feel the fight is gaining momentum as we get ready to rally in Austin before the TNRCC commission!  Come join us in Austin August 23rd!
